Five more cities – photobooths for all!

Well Australia day has now passed and this is the time of year when all of your favourite television shows begin to launch their new seasons. Whether you’re a big TV fan or not we’re here to assure you that entertainment does not have to be limited to your living room. Our team has taken it upon themselves to provide Australians near and far with the best kind of entertainment (can you guess what kind?!), and as a result we have now expanded our Photobooth Rental Network to a massive 21 members Australia wide. Our five newest members have now taken photobooth rental to Albury Wodonga and Geelong in Victoria, Cairns in Queensland, and Busselton and Geraldton in Western Australia.

We are beginning to cover most areas on the map with further plans of expansion coming in the months ahead. Our network team is working very hard to try and achieve our dream of being able to hire a photobooth to any Australian that wants one. If you’re in a big city or small town it doesn’t matter – we will do our level best to provide you with a photobooth. If we don’t have an operator available in your area, we do apologise, but would welcome you to join our team!

“December 20, 2010 – we had our first function on the weekend and all I can say is what a buzz! After a few months of weighing up whether buying a photobooth to hire out for weddings, parties, or any other event, I can’t tell you how gratifying it was to watch as people got into the photobooth spirit! There were giggles and guffaws galore as people lined up for their turn in the booth, planned their poses, and returned to do it all again! What an Amazing Year

With Christmas and 2011 nearly upon us it’s given us a great opportunity to reflect on what an amazing year we’ve had here at The Photobooth People. We are very blessed to have a wonderful team of people working with us and together we have built The Photobooth People Rental Network to be the largest photobooth rental group in the country. Rentals from our office here in Brisbane are still breaking previous monthly records, and as we continue to grow our relationships with our corporate clients we are heading into new territory with our booths heading out and about in South East Queensland on numerous long-term installations. It has been an exciting time for all of us, and particularly for Matt & me as we watch our 14 network members build their businesses and go from strength to strength. I’m sometimes a bit like a proud mother duck as we get reports from around Australia of how well our team is progressing! Most recently we’ve had two of our network members with 7 and 5 confirmed bookings respectively before even taking delivery of their booths, and another member who took delivery of their booth on a Wednesday, and completed their first booking that Friday. All without even having decided on their business name!

While the industry in Australia certainly has started to build momentum, we are now also watching with great interest as photobooths start to gain popularity in New Zealand, Indonesia and Canada as well (go the Canucks!).

What we’re really looking forward to in the new year is expanding our coverage of Australia and taking our first booths to the New Zealand market. With several new products and software developments being released by Digital Centre in early 2011, we are now more certain than ever that we have and will continue to offer the most sophisticated and innovative products in this industry (thank you Josep, Marina & the staff at DC!). The first of their new booths, a retractable touch-screen version of the New Generation booths, was unveiled to the industry at the 2010 IAAPA show in Orlando in November with great interest, and has added another option for people looking at entering the rental market.

We’re also very much looking forward to heading overseas in 2011 to visit friends and family, the Digital Centre office in Barcelona, and to spend more time looking at the expanding markets in Asia and Canada.

And just to give busy a whole new meaning, we are also preparing to welcome the newest member of The Photobooth People family in February, with our first baby well on the way (and kicking mum constantly to make sure she doesn’t forget!).

So as this year comes to a close we just want to thank each and every one of you that we have met and worked with in 2010. To the wonderful event planners and hire companies, venues and functions staff, we thank you for your kindness and assistance throughout the year. To our brides and grooms, it has been an absolute pleasure helping you to celebrate the most important day of your lives and we will certainly cherish the memories and friendships. And to our network and team in Brisbane – thank you, thank you, thank you. We are thrilled to be on this journey with you all, and we wish you every success in 2011.


Happy Birthday Jupiter’s Casino!

We’ve just finished a 4 day 24/7 installation at Jupiters Casino for their 25th birthday. Yup, that’s right Jupiters is 25 years old…..crazy stuff! So that means I was ….ahem…..only a few years old when it was built 🙂 Amongst numerous celebrations and parties, their staff ‘got their booth on’ for 4 days. Yeeha!

Long-term Installations are our thang.

We got up to some extreme booth business during the September school holidays. We were asked by Ipswich Art Gallery to help them facilitate a 16 day black light exhibition, and include one of our booths to take pics of all the kids who came to party and have their faces painted in bright neon colours. We put our heads together with the artistic directors at the gallery and came up with….wait for it……our black light photobooth! After many thousands of sessions through the booth the gang at the art gallery tell us they still had a line-up every day. Now that’s what we like to hear 🙂 And the shots are right out of the box – we actually think we may have built the very first black light photobooth in Australia. And as they say in Texas, if you done it, it ain’t braggin.

Let me tell you too, that long-term installations are our thang. Our booths were built to run forever with little attention – amen to that. In other words, we can leave everyone to their own devices in the booth….and of course that’s the way to get the most interesting shots! One of our booths was recently used to help the staff of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre celebrate their 15th birthday. We set up a booth in their staff cafe for four days, so that everyone could have their mugs photographed for posterity. All the chefs and functions staff, cleaners and maintenance staff, managers, admin and security staff spent their meal breaks cramming into the booth for giggles, and the turnout was brilliant. We then created a massive collage using some of the most inventive photos which is now covering one wall inside the cafe – check it out below.

So the moral to this story is that our booths were built for hard yakka. We regularly do long term events all over the country side. If you have an extended event coming up don’t be afraid to get in touch. Our booths can run day and night….for weeks even. We’re yet to hit the one month mark – but we’re keen! Go on, give us a call. If You Bring a Booth, They Will Come

The Photobooth People have now helped seven new photobooth rental businesses launch since June this year. Excitedly what our sales customers are learning is what we learnt very early on…. If you bring a booth, they will come. All types of people and all types of celebrations are calling for booths, for everything from Christenings to Weddings and back again. In fact, every one of our sales customers has had confirmed bookings before they’ve even taken delivery of their booths. It certainly confirms to them that they’ve made the right decision – and they can’t wipe the smiles off their faces 🙂

From Rockhampton in North Queensland and right down to beautiful Adelaide, we have helped some wonderful couples and friends launch businesses that are proving to be great successes before they even finish their websites. It’s awesome stuff. And each of these new businesses is now a part of The Photobooth People Rental Network, a network stretching across Australia to ensure that our clients, both sales and rentals, can tap into a wealth of information. Our network is a supportive group of like-minded photobooth operators, all working together to ensure their businesses grow. This is another huge advantage of starting your business with us. And remember, it won’t cost you an arm and a leg either. We aren’t selling franchises, just the equipment and know-how you need to get started.
